It was in the early '80s that I learned of this atrcity from an English Group, UB 40, and couldn't believe the hatred and annimosity that still raged in Americas south. And you still perpetrate this travesty of justice. We hve found time and time the wrongful punishment meeted out on Blacks in order to attach guilt to someone to 'clear the books'. Others suffer so that you can climb the ladder of government success. Even if he was guilty, (which I do not believe) he has served time far in excess of what he would have served if he were white! How can you live with yourselves? You should be jailed for taking His life! |

Dear Madam Blanco,
An interseting position you find yourself in concerning Gary Tyler no.. Not dissimilar to Pilate. he washed his hands believing that would exonerate him. he was wrong evidently as he was still accountable to God.
When good men in power stand silent then evil prevails and no amount of pretence or abdication of conscience will afford one their judgemnt process and ultimate accountability. You like me will one day stand before God and he will judge you like me, like Prince William on firstly what we did with Chris and secondly what we did with our lives... Couldn't be any scarier if i said it in the dark.. So what about you you,? the approval of men or the righteousness of God. Your call Choose wisely and go to your grave one day knowing that your account is clear with God accepting doing the right thing is far more important than being 'popular' or promoted..
many thanks for your Time.. |

Having recently been released from Angola prison after serving nearly 30 years, I know Gary Tyler well. Many evenings we sat around and talked politics, prison activities and his pursuit for freedom. I am convinced Gary Tyler was convicted for a killing he did not commit. It's way past time that those in authority to do so correct this injustice and give Gary his life back. It certainly will not make up for all the years he has had to grow up in prison, but at the very least he deserves (justice demands) that Gary live the remaining years of his life as a free and happy man. Not tomorrow, not in a month or another year, but now! |

Many years ago I bought an Album by UB40, which included the track 'Tyler', telling the story of how Gary Tyler had been imprisoned for (at the time) 5 years, in very dubious circumstances. Now some 30 years later, I'm finally getting my music into the digital age, and I bought the same album in MP3 format. Hearing the song again made me wonder whatever had happened to Gary Tyler, so, with the ease of the internet, I searched. I was absolutely shocked and dumbfounded to find that Gary is still being held in prison, with no retrial, no parole, nothing. It makes me ashamed to be part of a world where we can allow this to happen. This cannot be forgotten; we have to do something. |

There are any tragic injustices in the world, many of which may be lost in the complexities and chaos of life. Here is one that still rises to the top. An easy fix so to speak. The reparations, however, may be a little more difficult to achieve. |

I'm writing a school assembly on Gary's case to show young people how lucky they are to live in a world so different from that of the young Gary Tyler. The closing statement of the assembly is to disclose the horrifying fact that Gary is STILL in prison for a crime he obviously didn't commit. This case should continue to be an embarrassment to America until Gary is freed with a full pardon. |

Politics has not place in the Justice system. When politics becomes the issue justice goes out the window. Innocence and guilt, and equity in sentencing should be determined soley by the facts of the incident. The punishment should fit the crime and not be weighted by racism and personal bias.
